Shytoshi Kusama Under Fire as SHIB Community Demands New Leader

The Shiba Inu community has shown its dissatisfaction with Shytoshi Kusama’s leadership. WoofSwap and other SHIB stakeholders have publicly voiced their concerns. WoofSwap questioned Kusama’s abilities in a series of posts on X. These members believe the project needs a leader who is better at strategy, has stronger communication skills, and can respond to feedback from the community.

I don’t mind leaders who take benefits or aim to make more money, what I oppose are those who lack ability and just try to bleed the community dry, they noted. So, for those running in this election, you don’t have to be a saint, but you absolutely must be competent. We don’t need an incompetent president.

They also pointed to Kusama’s involvement in projects like SHY and Kaal Dhairya’s POE. They question whether these side ventures are benefiting the ecosystem or simply self-serving distractions.

Beyond the ability to lead, honesty and openness have become critical issues. Many of today’s leaders, including Kusama, are criticised for lacking proper accountability. The hypocrisy of praising people with unsuccessful tokens and dApps while ignoring others who could contribute long-term value to the community was brought to light by one user.

Another prominent voice, Shiba Germany, called for Kusama and other core figures to deliver on earlier promises. He cited the onboarding of a billion users, activating 100 validators, and supporting projects like BONE that appear to have been abandoned. “Stick with Ryoshi’s vision,” she urged, reflecting a longing for the ecosystem’s original ideals.

This comes after WoofSwap leveled accusations of favoritism at Kusama and Kaal Dhairya. He criticised their endorsement of the POE token while ignoring other legitimate projects on Shibarium.

What To Know About the Shiba Inu Elections

Shytoshi Kusama announced on Tuesday that the upcoming elections will appoint an interim president and establish foundational DAO councils. These recently elected officials will be responsible for overseeing the multibillion-dollar token economy and overseeing administrative and technical changes within the Shiba Inu ecosystem.

According to the release, anyone in the community is eligible to run for interim president. Candidates will submit detailed profiles, and the top ten will be selected after a review process. It is also worth mentioning that voting will be token-based, allowing holders of SHIB, BONE, TREAT, or LEASH to cast votes; each token equals one vote. This milestone comes after the meme giant celebrated its 5th anniversary.

These finalists will share their visions and objectives during a live debate. A final vote will be held a week later, after the community has voted to choose the top three candidates. The winner must pass a KYC check and sign an NDA to assume the role.
