The vice president of a certain Mining Pool protests the decision to change OP_RETURN and announces the sale of all BTC to exit the industry.
On June 11, Jason Hughes, vice president of a mining pool, announced that he would sell all his bitcoins and withdraw from the industry to protest the recent OP_RETURN change decision. Hughes expressed extreme disappointment with the decision by Bitcoin Core developers, saying that "52 days ago, Bitcoin Core developers at least pretended to be principled" and that he had "exhausted his energy in this fight". "The qualities that make Bitcoin unique are gone," Hughes warned. Previously, it was reported that Bitcoin Core developers plan to implement OP_RETURN changes in October, which will no longer filter OP_RETURN outputs containing large amounts of non-financial data. This change will increase the default data carrier limit from the current 80 bytes to close to 4MB.
