Recently, an investor analyzed an interesting phenomenon: since the beginning of the year, OpenAI and Google have almost simultaneously accelerated their deployment in the consumer AI market. Whether it's launching new models, updating features, or redesigning user interfaces, both companies share a very similar goal — to make AI accessible to ordinary users without technical backgrounds.

Why is this competition so crucial? Essentially, it's a matter of market structure. In the consumer LLM assistant space, there are already clear signs of a "winner-takes-all" situation. The first to establish a leading position may gain increasing advantages, which is a common pattern in many markets.

From user behavior, most consumers currently mainly use just one AI product. Data shows that only about 9% of users pay for multiple platforms like ChatGPT and Gemini simultaneously. This indicates that the market is still quite concentrated.

Interestingly, although leading products have captured a large user base, as demand becomes more segmented, the LLM market is gradually differentiating. This creates opportunities for new entrepreneurs — in application innovation and user experience, they remain important driving forces. So rather than a winner-takes-all scenario, it's more about finding your own niche.

9% of users are paying for two platforms simultaneously? How many people would that require to be able to calculate? That's a bit outrageous.

Honestly, it's outrageous that 91% of people only use one AI; we're all locked out.

It's outrageous that 91% of people only use one AI. How did I become one of the 9% fools?

That's right, 91% of users only recognize one AI, and this is the moat. Whoever gets the first move essentially secures the advantage.

Are 9% of users paying fees on multiple platforms simultaneously? It suggests that everyone is still watching and hasn't found the one they truly can't do without yet.

9% of users pay for two platforms simultaneously. This data is a bit sobering... It shows that most people are actually satisfied with just one product that works well for them.
