How to Create Sub Accounts

What is a Sub Account

A subaccount is an investment account created and managed under a primary Gate account (referred to as Main Account). It allows you to manage assets more efficiently. Each main account can create multiple subaccounts for trading and asset management.

Note: Once created, subaccounts cannot be deleted.

Subaccount creation limits by VIP level

A single main account can create multiple subaccounts. The higher the VIP level, the more subaccounts can be created. The specific rules are as follows:

• VIP 0 – VIP 4: Up to 10 subaccounts
• VIP 5 – VIP 9: Up to 30 subaccounts
• VIP 10 – VIP 11: Up to 100 subaccounts
• VIP 12 – VIP 16: Up to 200 subaccounts

How to create a subaccount

Step 1: Log in to your Gate account. Click the profile icon in the upper right corner and select [Sub Accounts].

Step 2: On the Sub Accounts management page, click [Create Subaccount].

Step 3: Fill in the required details:

• Subaccount type: Choose [Standard Subaccount] or [Managed Subaccount] (You may set trading permissions here).
• Set your subaccount username (use letters or a combination of letters and numbers). Click [Check if it’s available].
• Remarks: Write a remark or leave blank.
• You can choose whether the subaccount settings follow those of the main account. If not, customize the fields manually.

Once all details are confirmed, click [Confirm].

Step 4: Choose your preferred verification method ([Google Authenticator]/[SMS]), then click [Confirm] to complete the creation.

Step 5: Once the subaccount is created, go back to the [Sub Accounts management] page to transfer funds to it.

How to transfer funds

① Click [Transfer] next to the subaccount.

② Select the direction of the transfer (Main Account <> Subaccount).

③ Select the currency to transfer.

④ Enter the amount to transfer.

⑤ Click [Confirm].

Subaccount settings

Click the [...] icon on the right side of the subaccount to open the operation menu. You can perform the following actions:

• [APIs]: Enter API Key management and create an API Key for the subaccount.
• [Trading Permissions]: Set trading permissions for the subaccount.
• [Reset Password]: Reset the login password for the subaccount.
• [Withdrawal Whitelist]: Add withdrawal addresses for the subaccount.
• [Frozen]: Freeze the subaccount (takes effect after 3 minutes). Frozen subaccounts cannot log in or trade via API.

How to create a subaccount

Step 1: Open the Gate App and log in. Tap the profile icon on the top right of the homepage to access [Subaccounts].

Step 2: Tap the [Switch] button on the top right to enter the [Switch Account] page.

Step 3: Tap [My Subaccounts] - [Create Subaccount].

Step 4: Enter the required subaccount info as prompted.

Step 5: Choose whether the subaccount settings follow the main account.

If not, you can enable the desired options (such as login password, email, fund password, or Google Authenticator) and enter new information.

Once everything is confirmed, tap [Create] to complete the setup.

Subaccount management

On the Switch Account page, under My Subaccounts, you can:

• Transfer: Tap [Transfer] to move funds between your main account and subaccount.
  
  Select the currency, enter the amount, then tap [Transfer Now] to complete.

• More: Tap [More] to manage the selected subaccount:

  • [Pin]: Pin the subaccount to the top of the list for quick access.
  • [Remark]: Add a remark for easier identification.
  • [Reset Password]: Reset the subaccount’s login password.
  • [Freeze]: Freeze the subaccount (takes effect after 3 minutes). Frozen subaccounts can be reactivated later.

• History: Tap the [History] icon in the top right corner to view [Transfer History] and [Account Records].

Limitations of subaccounts

• To ensure asset security, only the main account can initiate fund transfers to/from subaccounts.
• Subaccounts are restricted from using the following features: P2P fiat trading, withdrawals (unless the recipient address is whitelisted), GateCode, Gate Points transfer, red envelopes (in chatroom and live streams), and participation in HODLer Airdrop.

Subaccount inherited features

• Handling fee discount: Subaccount inherits the same VIP tier and trading fee discount as the main account.
• Upgrade: VIP tier progress of the subaccount follows the main account. The trading volume of the subaccount will be counted into the main account.
