Su Yidao is a legendary figure in the Chinese futures market, whose trading career has been filled with dramatic ups and downs. He went from being an electrician to becoming a millionaire, then faced bankruptcy and debt, attempting suicide by jumping into a river, and ultimately made a comeback. His story is not just the growth story of a trader, but a profound fable about human nature, greed, and self-discipline. Here are the main milestones of his futures journey:

From electrician to futures genius

Su Yidao was born in a rural area, with a junior high school education, and was unable to continue manual labor due to an injury on the construction site in his early years, and later worked as an electrician in a securities company. During his work, he came across futures trading software by chance, and with his keen intuition for numbers, he quickly showed an amazing talent for trading. He became a legend in the futures market by growing his principal from $100,000 to $10,000,000 in two years (1996) through a simple moving average system and a strict stop-loss strategy.

The Peak and the Fall

After becoming rich, Su Yidao became addicted to a life of luxury, purchasing mansions and luxury cars, and marrying a model. However, he gradually strayed from his original trading discipline. He became arrogant, heavily invested in trades, and ignored market risks. After the outbreak of the Asian financial crisis in 1997, he stubbornly increased his positions against the trend, ultimately leading to his account being liquidated, with debts exceeding one million, his wife leaving, and his family falling apart.

In despair, Su Yidao chose to jump into the river to commit suicide in 2000, but was saved by fishermen. After that, he lived under an assumed name and went to Yunnan to restart his trading career.
