Trading has been good overall lately, with the exception of a few large losses, most of the time it has been quite smooth. This afternoon, I was going to close all contract positions and enter the observation period, but in the end I couldn't control the impulse to trade, and opened three long positions, all of which are now trapped. Just skimming through the discussion boards to realize that there will be an important interest rate meeting tomorrow, and completely neglecting to check what important economic data and events will be released this week. In fact, I have always had the discipline of avoiding not opening positions during interest rate meetings, and now I really regret not being able to adhere to this principle. When market volatility is heightened, it is more important to stick to trading discipline than to pursue short-term gains, and this time it has taught myself another lesson.
