Lighter was founded by Vladimir Novakovski in 2022, focusing on decentralized perpetual contracts and the upcoming spot trading features, built on Ethereum Layer 2, aimed at creating a "fair and transparent financial infrastructure layer." Novakovski entered Harvard at the age of 16 and was personally recruited by Citadel founder Ken Griffin after graduating at 18, later transitioning from the AI social platform Lunchclub into the crypto space.
