Original Title: Ethereum Layer 2 Optimism, New Enterprise Strategy Announced
Original Link:
Optimism, an Ethereum-based Layer 2 solution, has signaled a shift in its long-held 'OP Stack Expansion Strategy'.
Jing Wang, co-founder and CEO of Optimism(, recently stated on social media that “while doing too much, there was a lack of focus,” and pointed out that the strategy of mass-producing partner chains did not adequately respond to market changes.
Therefore, Optimism plans to change its strategy from being a simple chain supporter to a way for businesses to control their own economic structures. Wang emphasized that “ultimately, companies want to control their own economy” and will not remain in a platform-dependent structure.
However, he did not mention the specific methods.
Optimism emerged during the surge in Ethereum transaction fees from 2020 to 2021, gaining attention by providing a cost-effective trading solution. Subsequently, various projects were launched based on the OP stack, which created a foundation for building an independent ecosystem while remaining compatible with Ethereum.
However, the lack of strategy and excessive workforce expansion led to increased costs. The king stated, “We have stayed too long in tactics,” and mentioned that responding to the market without a systematic operational infrastructure has resulted in decreased sustainability.

Jingwang has finally realized... Are you admitting that you lost focus while spamming stacks? It's honest, but isn't it a bit too late?

well technically doing too many things and being scattered is just the enterprise equivalent of "we pivoted" ... imagine if optimism just leaned into being the boring infrastructure play instead of chasing every chain that asked nicely

nah this is the strategic pivot we've been pattern-matching for... jing wang finally acknowledging the bloat. too many chains diluting the thesis, wallet clustering data was showing consolidation fatigue weeks ago. enterprise play makes sense if they tighten focus instead of spraying OP everywhere tbh

In the end, all they did was spread it... producing chains without focus, haha.

Haha, pivoting again, is this time for real or will there be another no-show?

I've said it before, if it spreads too wide, it needs to be reined in. This adjustment is actually the trend of the times... It's a bit insightful for Optimism to recognize this, better than some who are still stubbornly holding on.
