The edge of old Mining Rigs shutting down in bulk, is the new generation of liquid-cooled models the only way out for Mining?

[Block Rhythm] Recently, miners have not been having a good time.

According to F2Pool's statistics, the overall network difficulty has been running at a high level. If the electricity cost is calculated at 0.06 USD per kilowatt-hour, a large number of old mining machines can no longer bear it. The entire Antminer S19 series, the S17 generation, and Avalon’s A12/A13, as well as the Shenma M20/M30 machines, have a shutdown price basically in the range of 90,000 to 100,000 USD, with some even higher. At the current price of coins, keeping these machines running results in losses, and they are basically at the edge of needing to be powered off.

But the new machines are a different story.

The S23 water-cooled version, when turned off, is priced at around $32,200 and is still making a profit. The S21 XP water-cooled model, which is even more powerful, has a shutdown price of around $40,000 to $50,000, showing a significantly stronger risk resistance. The difference in energy efficiency between liquid cooling and air cooling creates a survival space that is not even on the same level.

In simple terms, this cycle is accelerating the elimination of outdated production capacity. The difficulty is increasing, and the profit margins for old machines are getting thinner and thinner. The market environment is clear; those who need to upgrade their equipment must do so, or they will really have to shut down.

The old S19 series really can't keep up anymore. This increase in difficulty is directly forcing a batch of miners out. The new liquid-cooled models are indeed great, but the entry cost is still not low. By the way, with this round of elimination, the mining pool landscape is going to reshuffle again, right? If I had known, I should have upgraded earlier. Now being forced to shut down is such a loss.

The old S19 should retire, this wave of liquid-cooled models is the real deal. --- Wait, can I recoup investment with 32,000? How long do I have to mine for that? --- The difficulty is so high and not upgrading the machines? Just wait to lose money. --- The S23 water cooling is really appealing, but can the electricity cost be a bit cheaper? --- The mining industry is really competitive now, the fate of new machines versus old machines is so different. --- Speaking of which, with such high hardware costs for the S19 series, how much recovery value can there be? --- It feels like the shutdown price is just a paper number, whether it can actually be sold is another story. --- Liquid-cooled models can make money, but the initial investment is not a small amount either.

The old S19s are really going to be scrapped; turning them on is just Rekt. The liquid-cooled models have truly made a generational leap, and the new machines are the way to go. With a shutdown price of 90-100 thousand dollars, who can withstand this... The S23 water-cooled version can make money easily for just over 30 thousand, the landscape is completely different. With the difficulty being so competitive, the old mining rigs really should retire now. The gap between the old and new machines is simply a dimensionality reduction strike.

The S19 should retire, liquid cooling is the future, but the price of the new machines is unbearable for anyone.

The old mining rig is really done for, how much heartache must those guys still holding onto the S19 feel...

Old mining rigs really should retire, that pile of antiques like the S19 is just Rekt, it's better to close all positions and stop loss early. Liquid cooling is the future, the price of the S23 looks really attractive, but the problem is that only Large Investors can afford new machines. With such high difficulty and expensive electricity, how can retail investors play? They will eventually have to exit. The key is that the coin price has to rise, otherwise even the newest machines are useless. To be honest, the cost of building a mining farm is too high right now, it's better to borrow some USDT to trade on leverage. The S19 has become history, this round is really an elimination match, without traffic and capital it’s quite tough. Although liquid cooling machines are expensive, the logic of computing power is indeed more optimized, this time Antminer is really a strong contender. It's 2024 and there are still people using S17? That must be really pressure-resistant. With the shutdown price of new machines so low, it shows that the efficiency gap is huge. Does everyone have to upgrade? If the difficulty doesn't drop and electricity prices don't decrease, the S23 is just a stopgap measure, the real competition is still about who has the lowest cost.

Old S19 should die, liquid cooling is the future, anyone who can't keep up in this knockout stage will be eliminated directly.

The old machines really can't survive anymore; liquid cooling is the future... The S19 is going to be wiped out, and the electricity costs are the executioner. The new machines have cut costs so drastically, the gap has widened. With the difficulty being this tight, retail investors can really only watch. The shutdown price of over 30,000 vs over 90,000, this gap is insane.
