Do you still remember that Ethereum mainnet, once criticized as an "exclusive playground for the rich"? Recently, the situation has changed dramatically—gas fees have plummeted to 0.025 Gwei, with a single transaction costing just $0.0017. Even more surprisingly, many Layer2 solutions are now three to five times more expensive than the mainnet.

And that's not all. Beyond faster speeds and lower costs, Ethereum is about to launch privacy features. The pace of technological iteration forces us to reassess its value ceiling.

The market action in April still feels fresh: #美联储重启降息步伐 surged from $1,400 all the way to $4,950. Now, with the price oscillating near $2,800, what is the market waiting for? Is it a valuation reshuffle driven by technical upgrades, or a signal for a new wave of capital inflow? Some analysts are calling for a target of $8,500. It sounds crazy, but the crypto market has never lacked for cases that defy expectations.

$ETH and $BNB are also gathering momentum in this cycle, but perhaps it's Ethereum's "super evolution" this time that is the variable truly worth watching. When a public chain simultaneously solves the three major pain points of speed, cost, and privacy, what will happen next?
ETH-1.64%
BNB-1.68%
DOGE-4.77%

actually... hold up. the "privacy feature" framing here is doing some heavy lifting without explaining the cryptographic primitives involved. are we talking proper zero-knowledge implementations or just another opaque black box? because those are mathematically *very* different things

Gas fees have dropped this much, the mainnet is truly revived. But it's ridiculous that Layer 2 is even more expensive—how disappointing, haha. Is Ethereum going to launch privacy features? Now that's a real comeback, $8,500 sounds pretty good.

Gas fees are really unbelievable now. It used to cost a few bucks for every transaction, but now you can get it done for just a few cents. It's still hard to believe, haha. Layer2 being even more expensive is just absurd... I wanted to save money, but ended up getting ripped off instead. I can't bring myself to believe that 8500 target price, but at this point, I can imagine anything—this is just how the crypto market is. If privacy features actually get implemented, ETH's competitiveness will definitely take another step up. Dropping from 4950 to 2800—whether to buy at the lows is the question. I feel like I need to wait and see.

This drop in gas fees is truly amazing. Those who used to complain that Ethereum was only for the rich must be eating their words now, haha. 8500 is still too conservative—a rate cut cycle plus the launch of privacy features could push it past $10,000. It’s kind of ironic that Layer 2 is actually more expensive now. The mainnet has solved the pain points, so what will they do? When the next big money flows in, gas fees will skyrocket again. Transfers are smooth and cheap now, so enjoy this period while it lasts. Ethereum really is slowly proving all the naysayers to be a joke.

Gas fees have gone from being exclusive to the elite to dirt cheap—what a rapid turnaround. It’s kind of interesting to see Layer 2 getting countered like this.

Damn, has the gas fee really dropped this much? I got burned before, so now I can hardly believe it.

honestly if you actually analyze the mempool data, those L2 fee spikes are just temporary arbitrage inefficiencies... mainnet at 0.025 gwei is demonstrably superior from a base layer optimization standpoint, but let's not pretend the privacy rollout magically justifies 8.5k lol

Gas fees are so cheap now, it feels like the mainnet is about to make a comeback. It was really getting crushed by L2s before.

Can't hold it in anymore—from aristocrat tax to rock-bottom prices, I never expected such a contrast. If Layer2 ends up being more expensive, I’ll just laugh. What kind of logic is that? Once privacy features go live, that’ll be the real game-changer. 8500 as the target sounds easy, but who actually dares to go all in? Just waiting for the next wave. Feels like there’s more to the mainnet story.

the alchemy is brewing... eth transmuting from peasant fees to aristocratic efficiency? *chef's kiss* but layer2s getting gutted instead? that's the cursed paradox nobody talks about. 8500 though... nah, that's not crazy, that's just market memory doing its thing again.
