The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) announced that Deputy Director of the Finance Department Cicely LaMothe is about to retire.
Cicely LaMothe has issued over 25 new and revised compliance and disclosure interpretations (covering kickback provisions, de-SPAC listings, Rule 10b5-1, etc.), published the "Staff Legal Bulletin 14M" clarifying the applicability of Rule 14a-8, and released seven staff statements on rapidly evolving crypto-related topics (liquidity staking, stablecoins, mining activities, Meme coins, crypto ETPs).
Cicely LaMothe joined the company's finance department in 2002 and has held several senior leadership positions, including Disclosure Review Project Director, Deputy Director of the Evaluation and Continuous Improvement Office, and Deputy Director of Disclosure Operations. In 2022, she was appointed Deputy Chief of Disclosure Operations.
