Currently, Frontier AI's capabilities are no longer the issue; the real bottleneck is the inability to prove it.



The larger the model and the more complex the system, the less transparent external observers are about how decisions are made. In scenarios like robotics, financial systems, and automated decision-making, this problem is amplified infinitely—you can be very smart, but you need to be able to explain yourself clearly.

This is why verifiability is becoming a hard requirement rather than an added bonus. DSperse and JSTprove are essentially filling this gap. One is responsible for reducing the cost of zkML so that verification can scale; the other ensures that every AI decision can be traced and checked with verifiable credentials.

In simple terms: more verification doesn't necessarily mean higher costs; no verification definitely makes deployment more difficult.

The market has already sent very clear signals. For example, in a city like Chicago, before discussing sidewalk robots, residents and regulators care most about safety—not whether it works well. Do you have compliant data? Who is responsible if something goes wrong? When a system cannot self-verify, it will always be seen as a black box on the road. Once trust is lost, even the most advanced technology is useless.

And this problem will only become more severe. As models grow larger, reasoning processes become less transparent, data sources harder to trace, and verification gaps will grow faster than performance gaps. So I understand that the Auditable Autonomy they propose is not just a slogan but a baseline: every AI output should leave a verifiable fingerprint. This is a prerequisite for automation systems to enter the real world, enterprises, and regulatory frameworks.

Finally, the young people using LEGO to make prosthetics are actually quite insightful. The technical barriers are lowering, and creativity is being unleashed earlier. But what we truly want to leave behind is not just smarter AI, but an infrastructure environment that is inherently verifiable and trustworthy by default.

Otherwise, even the most brilliant future engineers will only keep stacking black boxes on black boxes.
