Recently, news about collaborations between crypto projects and traditional banks has been everywhere, but a closer look reveals that things are not as simple as they seem.

Some projects are indeed hinting that by 2026 they will partner with mainstream financial institutions, but so far, there are no concrete examples of such collaborations actually materializing. Behind this, the entire market is betting on one thing—whether regulators will loosen their grip.

From on-chain data, last week’s DeFi lock-up volume experienced a 12% short-term fluctuation. Interestingly, this fluctuation coincided with rumors of bank partnerships. Funds are betting on a "breakthrough signal." But here’s the problem: a case review by the US Office of the Comptroller of the Currency last year showed that the entire compliance process for crypto banks typically takes 18 to 24 months. This time cost alone is enough to cast doubt on many project promises.

Thinking even further, all current partnership announcements are made by the projects themselves, with no official confirmation from financial institutions. What happened to the wave of stablecoin-bank collaborations in 2021? Everyone saw the outcome. Regulatory temperament is notoriously unpredictable, and projects that overhype bank concepts may ultimately face narrative collapse.

So here’s the core issue: in such a regulatory environment, will genuine cooperation between traditional financial institutions and the crypto sector accelerate or be delayed? This might be the key question to watch in the coming future.

It's that time of year again—the "Bank Partnership Dream." 2026, right? I'll just smile and respect that. Wait, 18 to 24 months for compliance? Doesn't that mean these promises for 2026 are basically empty talk? Haven't we learned enough from the lessons of stablecoins in 2021? Why do people still believe project teams' words? Funding is betting on a thaw signal, which is really betting on whether regulators are in a good mood. You can't really gamble on that. I've never seen financial institutions speak out officially; it's all project hype. This routine is so familiar.

It's the same story of bank cooperation again; I heard it once last year. Honestly, is the project already so proficient at self-hype? The financial institutions haven't said a word.

18-24 months compliance cycle, and now they’re claiming 2026? The numbers are right there in front of you. I've seen this trick too many times.

It's that time of year again for the "Upcoming Partnership" show. Just listen to the promises for 2026. Well said, an 18 to 24-month compliance cycle, projects are hyping it up way too early. Not a single official bank confirmation, all just projects hyping themselves up, just like the stablecoin story in 2021. Funding follows the trend, betting on a breakthrough signal, which is really just gambling on regulatory mood. Honestly, it's all too虚. Regulators turn hostile faster than flipping a page. The more intense the hype, the harder the fall. Everyone understands this principle. When the partnership actually materializes, that's a real event. All these messages now are just storytelling for the market.
