Vietnam has officially integrated blockchain technology into its national electronic identification application VNeID, enabling the technology to be practically applied in national governance.

Therefore, the Ministry of Public Security now directly applies blockchain technology to VNeID to trace the sources of precursors and chemicals, which are areas requiring high regulation, transparency, and compliance.

Recent reports show that the application of blockchain on Vietnam’s National ID (VNeID) is not limited to administrative management but is expanding to incorporate key digital services for citizens and businesses, aiming to form a unified national digital platform.

At a meeting summarizing the one-year implementation of the government action plan, these points were emphasized. The 57-NQ/TW resolution was held to commemorate the 5th anniversary of national administrative reform and the 4th anniversary of the implementation of the “06 Project,” on December 18, hosted by the Prime Minister, who is also the Chair of the Digital Transformation and Innovation in Science and Technology Development Steering Committee.

Behind the integration of blockchain into VNeID is Vietnam’s Multi-Chain Blockchain Service Network. VBSN (Vietnam Blockchain Service Network) is the national shared blockchain infrastructure built according to the initial strategic direction of the Ministry of Science and Technology. After long-term systematic development, VBSN has completed its technical infrastructure and entered the stage of large-scale deployment, becoming the backbone network of blockchain for the public sector. As of October this year, just 10 months after receiving government tasks, VBSN has built 6 core Layer-1 layers, with a maximum speed of 300,000 TPS.

Mr. Pande Zong, Chairman of the Vietnam Blockchain and Digital Assets Association (VBA) and Chairman of 1Matrix, stated that the blockchain-as-a-service (BaaS) solution based on VBSN has been directly integrated into Vietnam’s national identity system (VNeID) to address the Ministry of Public Security’s need to trace the sources of precursors and chemicals. He believes that applying blockchain technology to national management operations, which require extremely high data integrity and legal compliance, indicates that this technology has moved beyond the conceptual stage and has become a practical operational tool.

Centered on VNeID, the VBSN application ecosystem is gradually expanding into many fields. A series of solutions have already been implemented or are in pilot testing, including: ChainTracer for tracking suspicious items; digital maps of Da Nang city; diploma and certificate verification systems for the College of Cryptography; decentralized identity recognition and authentication solutions (DID/VC) for several large banks and financial institutions; and platforms for verifying, registering, and managing intellectual property rights.

Repositioning VNeID as a national digital tool.

According to the latest news, the Vietnamese government is positioning VNeID as more than just a digital identity application. The platform is expected to become a central hub connecting various digital services such as public administration, finance/banking, and public-private partnerships, with blockchain serving as the infrastructure layer to ensure data security and digital trust.

At many solutions showcased in the technology exhibition area held concurrently with the conference, many demonstrated a “user-centric” approach, integrating digital services directly into Vietnam’s national identity system (VNeID) rather than existing as standalone systems. This reflects Vietnam’s digital transformation strategy, which not only digitizes management processes but also creates tangible value for citizens and businesses.

Mr. Pande Zong introduced the application of VBSN in public-private partnership service agencies to the Prime Minister, Minister of Science and Technology, and other national leaders.

According to Mr. Trung, Resolution 57-NQ/TW, along with the coordination role of the Ministry of Science and Technology, has laid the foundation for Vietnam to gradually master data infrastructure, multi-chain blockchain infrastructure, and core technologies, while also meeting requirements for data sovereignty, information security, and legal compliance.

On the other hand, according to Decision 1131/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister, blockchain has been designated as a national strategic technology, and based on the Politburo’s Resolution 57-NQ/TW, blockchain is one of the prioritized technologies for implementation. **$ELA **$LAZIO **$LAYER **
