Can LUNC return to $119? First, understand this supply game.

The Truth of History Has Been Forgotten

Investors often cite a figure: LUNC once reached $119. But there’s a key historical detail — that $119 was the price of the old Luna.

The situation back then was as follows: The total supply of LUNA in the Terra ecosystem was about 350 million tokens, and the system was stable. The core function of LUNA was to maintain the peg mechanism of the UST stablecoin. However, after UST de-pegged in 2022, the system began to mint new LUNA tokens infinitely in an attempt to save the market, ultimately causing the supply to explode to 6 trillion tokens.

In subsequent restructuring, the old LUNA was renamed Terra Classic (LUNC), and a brand new Terra 2.0 (LUNA) was launched. So what you see on exchanges as LUNC is not the same token that once hit $119. The current all-time high of LUNC is only about $0.00059.

Supply Determines the Ceiling

The question now becomes clear: Is it mathematically possible for LUNC to break through to $119, or even just $1?

The answer is no. LUNC’s circulating supply has already reached around 5.46 trillion tokens. To reach $1, its market cap would need to exceed 5-6 trillion USD. From a global perspective, this surpasses the entire US economy and is virtually impossible.

Even considering extreme scenarios — where the community executes over 99% token burns — it can only improve the price, not bring it back to the completely unrealistic level of $119.

Can Burning Coins Save the Day?

The LUNC community has been implementing token burn plans, which can somewhat alleviate the oversupply issue. But to have a significant impact, the scale of burning would need to be enormous — depending on community consensus and the real utility of ecological applications.

The current reality is: there is no mechanism to reduce the supply from 5.46 trillion to close to the old LUNA level of 350 million.

How to View LUNC’s Future?

LUNC still has room for improvement, but the premise is to stop fantasizing about a $119 return and instead focus on:

  • Whether community burning efforts can be sustained
  • Whether ecological applications can drive real demand
  • Whether the supply can be controlled within a reasonable range

Low supply once propelled Luna to its peak, but infinite printing drove LUNC into the abyss. This lesson is worth remembering for all investors: before choosing a coin, the supply structure is always more important than historical prices.

Bottom line: Do your research, listen less to stories. LUNC may have opportunities for price increases, but that $119 dream should be awakened by reality.
