The crypto custody company Zodia Custody, supported by major banks such as Standard Chartered and SBI, has started to take on the secure storage of tokenized emeralds in collaboration with the Swiss fintech firm GEMx. This partnership aims to bridge the traditional precious stone market with the digital asset world.

According to the press release made on Wednesday, thanks to this collaboration, institutional investors will be able to obtain fractional ownership in a diversified portfolio consisting of high-quality emeralds through a token called EmGemX.

Tokenization enables the digitization of physical emeralds through blockchain technology, making them more accessible and liquid.

Emeralds are held in secure vaults that are regularly assessed by independent experts. According to the statement, emeralds have emerged as a stable investment vehicle with an average annual value increase of about 9% in recent years.
