Seraph: Pioneer of Dark Wind Chain Games, Setting a New Benchmark for High-Quality Web3 Games
The dark style game Seraph ushers in a new era of blockchain gaming
In the context of the current volatility in the cryptocurrency market, the blockchain gaming industry has also undergone several transformations, but so far, there has not been a truly killer product. Although many strong traditional game studios have entered this field in an attempt to address the issue of low game quality, there are still very few games that can actually be experienced. Against this backdrop, the Seraph game, which has garnered much attention this year, stands out.
Seraph is a dark-themed Web3 game. In April and July of this year, the game conducted two rounds of internal testing, attracting a total of 30,000 player registrations through partnerships with various player communities. The game performed excellently, with a first-day retention rate of 72%, a seven-day retention rate of up to 45%, and an average daily online duration of 5 hours per player, which is quite impressive for a blockchain game. Although the first two tests were wipe tests and only used test tokens, 55% of players still participated in on-chain transactions, and some experienced players even engaged in off-chain real-money transactions, fully demonstrating players' recognition of the quality and playability of the Seraph game. Currently, Seraph is preparing for the third internal test with some assets remaining intact, while also launching a blind box whitelist event, giving participating players the chance to obtain high-value game assets, which is worth looking forward to.
Recently, Seraph's Chief Marketing Officer Yezi gave an exclusive interview, delving into the team story behind Seraph, the design of its economic system, recent plans, and future layout.
Origins of the Game and Team Background
The Seraph team has rich experience in game development, blockchain technology, and operational promotion, and has received strong financial support. The project has been incubated with investment from South Korea's online game giant Actoz Soft, backed by its mature product development and distribution system. The development team comes from well-known gaming companies and has over ten years of experience in developing dark-themed games. The team also includes members with experience in DeFi projects and many years of wallet operation experience, ensuring wallet security and continuously optimizing user experience. Recently, they have also brought in an excellent Web3 market operation team, which includes founders of several well-known Web3 projects.
The creative inspiration for Seraph comes from the popular Loot project in 2021. The team believes that the dark style aligns well with blockchain games, allowing for a rich and diverse equipment system to be integrated with NFT technology. Coupled with the unique economic flow and trading characteristics of blockchain games, this aims to provide players with a unique gaming experience.
Game Features and Advantages
Compared to traditional games, Seraph integrates blockchain elements while ensuring the depth and fun of the game. Game assets exist in the form of NFTs, allowing players to trade and dispose of them freely. The in-game currency takes the form of on-chain tokens, enabling players to experience financial gameplay such as "gold farming", "investing", and "community governance", enhancing the real-world interaction between players and the game, and providing a convenient consumption and withdrawal experience.
Compared to traditional dark-themed games, Seraph has added more economic transactions and social experiences, deeply reformed and optimized game items, and expanded from traditional dark ARPG gameplay towards the MMO direction. Through the seasonal system and content updates, the game maintains a longer lifecycle. A large amount of content has been added in the onboarding phase, multiplayer teaming, PVP leaderboards, and the game cycle among regular users, merchants, and big spenders, optimizing user experience.
Compared to other blockchain games on the market, Seraph offers higher game quality and a lower learning threshold for players. The game features a UI and some character skills that feel familiar to veteran Diablo players, and it has customized wallets that are easy for users without Web3 experience to create, lowering the barrier for players to enter blockchain gaming. The game content is rich, including ten chapters of storyline, hundreds of maps, various playable classes, a vast library of equipment affixes, three major dungeons, nurturing gameplay, fashion pets, and more. The economic design is also more stable, aiming for a long-term cycle, with many improvements to the in-game economy based on experiences from the real world.
Economic Model and Core Assets
The economic model of Seraph is centered around equipment as the core NFT asset, and players' "grind grind grind" behavior builds a gold farming loop. The game plans to expand deeper gameplay such as PFP and land GVG based on the core loop.
The core economic loop of the game is divided into two main lines: first, players participate in the Void Otherworld dungeon, where players wearing NFT equipment can simultaneously achieve "gold farming" and obtain Soul Crystals. Second, players wearing NFT equipment and consuming Soul Crystals can participate in the Chaos Secret Realm dungeon, with a chance to obtain drops of rare assets, including new NFT equipment.
The core assets of the game mainly include NFTs and the token SRF. The equipment NFT is central, named the Unique NFT series, which includes the bright gold chaotic equipment that has appeared in the first two tests and the extremely rare dark gold equipment that is currently being planned. These NFTs have sufficient scarcity and randomness in the game, possessing extremely high in-game utility and trading value.
Future Planning and Development
The Seraph team has basically completed the development of the main content, including three major classes and several core dungeon gameplay mechanics. Currently, they are developing new content and gameplay, including two new classes: Necromancer and Druid. In the third test, new features such as skins, footprints, and automatic pet loot pickups will be introduced.
The subsequent roadmap includes two aspects: game content and Web3 gameplay. The game has been submitted for Steam review, and the Steam version is expected to meet players soon. In the future, new professions, mercenaries, PVP gameplay, guilds, and other social elements will be introduced, along with new content such as seasonal themes and achievements. Regarding Web3 elements, PFP will also be available to players, and there are many new contents awaiting disclosure.
The Seraph team firmly believes that good blockchain games can transcend bull and bear markets, even attracting funds from outside the industry to bring new vitality to the market. They will continue to refine their products during the bear market, working with players to create the most attractive and enduring games in the industry, building the strongest and most cohesive community. The team looks forward to meeting players in the upcoming third test to witness the growth and development of Seraph together.
