Miroslava Andreeva The developers of the DeFi protocol CrediX based on Sonic have executed an exit scam. This was reported by CertiK specialists.
On August 4, the CrediX platform was subjected to a hacker attack. The attacker gained control of the project's wallet, created uncollateralized tokens, and withdrew funds from the liquidity pools.
The hacker transferred the stolen cryptocurrency from Sonic to Ethereum and distributed it across several addresses. According to Blockscope, the cybercriminal laundered part of the stolen funds through Tornado Cash.
In the first hours after the hack, the protocol team promised to reimburse losses within 24-48 hours. The developers stated that they had reached an agreement with the hacker, and he agreed to return the stolen funds.
To prevent further losses, Credix shut down the website, but has not resumed operations since. The project's social media accounts have been deleted.
The platform appeared in July 2025 and offered users returns of up to 10,000%. The project allegedly connected investors with fintech companies in developing countries.
It should be noted that researchers from Global Ledger identified the speed of fund withdrawals after hacks as the main problem in the crypto industry. According to analysts, in the first half of the year, hackers stole over $3.01 billion in 119 incidents.
