In the US, the Ministry Launched a Cryptocurrency Attack: Blockchain and Coins Are Also on the Table! - Coin Newsletter
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is considering using blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies in its operations.
According to U.S.-based news platform ProPublica, HUD officials held several meetings to discuss tracking the ministry's grants with blockchain technology. According to two officials, who did not want to be named, this project could be a pilot for the expansion of cryptocurrency adoption throughout the federal government.
According to ProPublica, HUD officials also discussed the use of stablecoins, which are stablecoins with a stable value, at the meetings. However, it is not yet clear which blockchain network or which stablecoin will be preferred. Some sources have suggested that direct cryptocurrency making of HUD grants is also being discussed in the future. However, a spokesperson for HUD stated that there are currently no plans to use blockchain or stablecoins.
HUD's blockchain moves are in line with U.S. President Donald Trump's promise to make the country the "crypto capital" of the world. Last week, Trump signed an executive order on the creation of a Strategic Bitcoin (BTC)** and a U.S. Digital Asset Stock.
Speaking at the first crypto summit at the White House last Friday, Trump said that he wants to end the exclusion of cryptocurrencies from the banking system, stating that he wants the stablecoin law to be on his table by August. These developments show that the United States has made a serious policy change towards the cryptocurrency industry and that the use of blockchain may become widespread.
