All addictive behaviors hide a deeper, more serious, and more unfaceable problem. If you stay up late addicted to it, clearly feeling sleepy but just refusing to sleep, it's not because staying up late itself is so fascinating, but because you never feel safe inside and don't dare to relax. Once you focus, you especially want to scroll through short videos. Being addicted to short videos isn't because they are so entertaining, but because your brain has been trapped in a highly alert and engaging mode for a long time, making it hard to concentrate. You need external stimulation, and short videos serve as a kind of external trigger. You rely on external stimuli to temporarily pull yourself out of unease, providing a brief numbing and stimulating distraction. Because you don't need to solve the addiction itself; what you truly need to address is the deeper underlying issue—that you have never felt safe from the beginning. Your inner self is too restless, even telling yourself that your fears and anxieties don't come from real events. You don't need to respond to all your negative thoughts, or even respond at all. You'll find that eventually, they will slowly drift away from you.
