According to Techub News, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported that Cheongju City will open Virtual Money trading accounts, allowing local tax debtors to directly sell their Virtual Money. Since 2021, the city has seized Virtual Money from 203 taxpayers who owe taxes through measures such as suspending transactions, but the amount collected has been limited due to a lack of means to exchange it for cash. Therefore, the city has opened a Virtual Money trading account in the name of the local government, and if tax debtors do not pay their debts, the city plans to transfer the seized Virtual Money to the city account and sell it directly. A total of 161 individuals have had their Virtual Money seized, with the amount of local tax owed reaching approximately 1.5 billion won.
