Pichai Thanks Trump at Tech Dinner

Sundar Pichai gave Trump a nod for his administration's part in Google's antitrust case. It happened Thursday night. Tech bigwigs gathered at the White House for dinner.

Trump spotted Pichai. "Very good day for you," he remarked.

Pichai cracked a smile. "I'm glad it's over." Everyone laughed. "It's a long process... Your administration had this constructive dialogue. Got to some resolution." Kind of surprising how direct he was.

Trump just said, "Right."

The case ended pretty well for Alphabet. No breakup needed! Judge Mehta found Google guilty of antitrust stuff, but the company kept its sweet deals. That iPhone arrangement? Still intact. Billions safe.

Alphabet stocks soared afterward. Apple jumped 4% too. The court did make Google share some search data. Not ad data though. They called it "ordinary commercial terms." Whatever that means.

Pichai quickly pivoted to AI talk. Smart move. "The AI moment is transformative. Once in a lifetime stuff," he told Trump. "The AI action plan under your leadership? Great start. Looking forward to working together."

He meant that "Winning the AI Race" thing from earlier 2025. Big strategy. American dominance. Innovation push. The usual.

Trump jumped in with something not quite right. "Biden was the one who prosecuted that lawsuit." Actually, DOJ filed during Trump's time. Pichai didn't correct him. Seemed intentional.

Earlier that day, Pichai had shown up at Melania Trump's AI Education Taskforce. Google clearly wants to stay in the loop on government AI policies.

On a side note, Trump's lawsuit against Google for YouTube stuff after January 6 is still going. Lawyers talking. Not entirely clear where that's headed.
