Breaking news just landed—Meta officially announced the acquisition of Manus, a startup focused on general AI Agents.
In their official statement, the Manus team said that this is not just an acquisition but also a recognition of their work exploring the AI Agent field. Since its launch, Manus has been doing one thing: building AI Agents that help users automate research, automation, and complex tasks. The product data speaks for itself—by early December, Manus had processed over 147 trillion tokens, created more than 80 million virtual computers, and served millions of users worldwide.
Why did Meta make a move? From Manus’s perspective, this partnership allows them to maintain independent operations while gaining a stronger technological foundation and sustainable support. In other words, Manus will not change its product direction because of the acquisition—app and website services will continue to operate, and the Singapore headquarters will function as usual.
Manus founder Xiao Hong’s attitude is very clear: partnering with Meta is to iterate products on a more solid foundation and continue delivering value beyond expectations for users. This is the core logic that has allowed Manus to survive and develop since its launch.
From a broader perspective, this reflects a trend—AI Agents are no longer just conceptual hype but a real product form. Major tech companies starting to deploy in this field indicates that monetizing AI capabilities at the application layer has become a key focus. Manus’s case also reminds us that AI tools capable of solving real user problems are being recognized by the market and capital.
