Friends who are new to the contract market often ask: How can I operate with only 1000U without losing money? Over the past few years, I’ve guided many beginners, and I’m sharing my practical summarized methods to help everyone avoid many detours.
First of all, never invest the full 1000U at once. My approach is to split it into 5 parts, investing only 200U each time, with leverage set at 10x. Beginners tend to greedily open 50x leverage, but when the market fluctuates by 2%, their mentality collapses, and chaotic operations lead to faster losses.
The remaining 800U is kept in a savings account to maintain stability. Once the 200U position is wiped out, absolutely do not add more funds—I've fallen into this trap before, losing and then adding more money, which only deepens the position. When facing a loss, pause for 1-2 days, ask yourself why you lost, think it through before acting. Cryptocurrency markets fluctuate daily, and opportunities are always present. Protecting your principal is the top priority.
After adjustments, split that 800U into 5 parts (each 160U) and repeat the process. This time, be more cautious. If you earn 500U, immediately transfer out 300U to lock in profits, leaving only 200U to continue trading. Having real profits in your account stabilizes your mindset. I’ve seen people earn 500U but hesitate to withdraw, only to get wiped out in a sudden market dip, forcing them to start from zero—such a loss is too unfortunate.
Honestly, with 10x leverage, a 10% move against your position can lead to liquidation. It’s common for Bitcoin to fluctuate 20% in a year. No matter how much you’ve earned before, full-position trading will eventually wipe you out. I know seasoned traders with a win rate of only 55%, which is already quite good, so position management is more important than any technical skill. Even with a 90% win rate, one wrong judgment can wipe out everything.
Here are the rules you must follow:
If your daily loss exceeds 2% of your total funds, be alert immediately. If it reaches 6%, close all losing positions. For profitable contracts, set a breakeven stop-loss and take profit, then rest for 2-3 days before considering re-entry.
Do not chase the market. Add positions either immediately or wait for a significant pullback to pyramid in gradually. When your margin account profits exceed 200%, set 30% trailing stop-loss on half of your position to lock in profits, and set breakeven on the other half to prevent big gains from turning into huge losses.
Final advice for beginners: start with 300-500U, using 5-10x leverage to balance risk and reward. Always set a stop-loss (close the position if loss reaches 100-200 USD), and use a 30% retracement strategy for take profit. Take profits promptly and withdraw funds, keeping each deposit within 1000U. Focus on mastering the basics before considering increasing your capital.
