Ethereum Breaks Through the Three Dilemmas? Vitalik Explains the Technical Upgrade Path of ZK-EVM and PeerDAS

Abstract generation in progress

【ChainWen】The performance bottleneck of Ethereum is being gradually overcome through technological innovation. As ZK-EVM enters the production-grade alpha stage and PeerDAS officially launches on the mainnet, Ethereum is building a network architecture that truly combines high bandwidth, strong consensus, and decentralization.

According to Vitalik’s latest technical outlook, Ethereum’s upgrade roadmap is quite clear:

Starting in 2026, the Gas limit independent of ZK-EVM will be increased, and ZK-EVM nodes will also appear successively. This means that transaction processing capacity without relying on zero-knowledge proofs will be significantly enhanced.

During the 2027-2030 window, ZK-EVM will gradually become the main solution for block verification. This transition not only improves throughput but also greatly enhances proof efficiency.

Distributed block construction is also an important long-term goal. By breaking the monopoly of a single builder, Ethereum can effectively reduce centralization risks and enhance fairness across different geographical regions. These combined improvements will help Ethereum truly break through the blockchain’s “Impossible Triangle”—finding a better balance among security, scalability, and decentralization.

Here comes the hype again? We won't see the results until 2026, and we're still using L2 now haha ZK-EVM sounds good, but who knows how it performs in practice... By the way, has PeerDAS really gone live? Vitalik's roadmap changes every year, believe it or not, but I'm just going to wait and see

Will it only take effect in 2026? I feel like I have to wait another century...

Coming back to make promises? It won't take effect until 2026, and I still have to endure high gas fees now. Will ZK-EVM really change the game? It feels like it's always being said to be coming. PeerDAS is online but still congested. Has anyone actually experienced it? Vitalik's roadmap changes every year. Can we trust it this time... Breaking the triple difficulty dilemma? Let's first reduce the gas fees to a usable level. It won't be available until 2027, and nobody knows if the coin will still be around. Distributed builders are indeed impressive, but when will it truly be implemented? Another production-level alpha, tired of hearing it. When is the official version coming? The talk about throughput improvements has been going on for years. That's just how blockchain is.

Wait, starting only in 2026? Feels a bit slow... --- ZK-EVM can really go live? I thought it would be delayed again. --- Honestly, has PeerDAS already launched? Why doesn't it feel like much? --- Another grand blueprint from Vitalik. Can it be delivered on time? --- Distributed blockchain construction, in simple terms, is about countering MEV, right? But can it truly break the monopoly? --- 2027 is the main force? Then what should I buy now, haha. --- This roadmap looks quite clear, just afraid it's another big talk without substance. --- Decentralization, high performance, low cost—when will this dream come true? --- Is PeerDAS demanding higher requirements for nodes? Isn't that a form of centralization? --- Forget it, I'll wait and see how other L1s copy the homework. --- Significant improvement in proof efficiency? Then how much should gas fees be reduced to be profitable?

actually, statistically speaking... "production-grade alpha" is just cope for "not quite ready yet," right? let me pull up my spreadsheet on zk-evm timelines because vitalik's roadmaps have this funny way of becoming evolutionary dead-ends by 2027 lol

Starting only in 2026? Gotta wait another two years, bro. Honestly, how long has ZK-EVM been hyped... Vitalik is once again making big promises. Believe it or not, I believe it. PeerDAS is now live? About time, gas fees have been ridiculously high. Wait until 2027-2030? Wow, this timeline is dragging on too long. Break through the three difficult dilemmas? First, bring down the gas fees.
