He was initially held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn. There, he shared a dormitory room with Sean “Diddy” Combs and unexpectedly gave an interview to Tucker Carlson in March, which led to his crisis manager resigning.

According to the Bureau of Prisons, SBF was later transferred to FCI-Terminal Island prison located in San Pedro, California, which houses 850 low-security male inmates.

The U.S. Supreme Court estimates that SBF will be released on December 14, 2044, less than 21 years after his sentencing.

A spokesperson stated that the release date is calculated based on the anticipated “good behavior time.” The bureau indicated that eligible inmates can earn a reduction of 54 days for each year served. Incarcerated individuals can also reduce their time by participating in certain programs offered by the prison.

“Finally, the individual’s time in custody prior to the judgment date may also be subject to a reduction in sentence,” the spokesperson pointed out.

In addition, SBF’s ex-girlfriend and accomplice Caroline Ellison will be released in May 2026.
