Jin10 reported on May 6 that, according to Israel’s Channel 12, U.S. envoy Vitkoff is pushing for an agreement for Hamas to release the remaining hostages, aiming to make progress before Trump’s Middle East trip concludes, which would break a stalemate that has lasted more than two months. Comments from U.S. officials at the Israeli Embassy in Washington stated that Vitkoff is in talks with Qatar, Egypt, and Israel, mediating almost daily between the two sides to reach an agreement to end the 19-month-long war. An Israeli senior defense official said that Israel’s security cabinet voted this week to increase military pressure on Hamas, but they have left an “opportunity window” to reach an agreement before and during Trump’s visit to the region.
