Taiwan September CPI YoY: Inflation Data Below Expectations

On October 8, 2025, Taiwan’s Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics released the Consumer Price Index (CPI) year-over-year data for September. The reported figure was 1.25%, below the forecast of 1.62% and the previous reading of 1.60%.The Consumer Price Index (CPI) measures changes in the prices of goods and services related to household consumption and is widely regarded as a key indicator of inflation. The better-than-expected result is positive for the New Taiwan Dollar.This data is of high importance, using a methodology that tracks the prices paid by consumers for a representative basket of goods and services. The CPI is published monthly, with the next release scheduled for November 6, 2025.
